Today we're launching the Kauai 24-Hour Animal Medical Center campaign — a community-driven effort to bring emergency veterinary care to our island, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Why now?
Kauai is the only major Hawaiian island without a 24-hour in-person emergency animal hospital. When pets face life-threatening emergencies after clinic hours, families are left with impossible choices: wait, rely on telehealth, or arrange inter-island travel to Oahu.
Our family's experience — flying Cleo to the Veterinary Emergency and Referral Center (VERC) on Oahu after she was hit by a car — showed us firsthand how critical this gap is.
What we're building toward
Our vision is a facility modeled after VERC's standard of care:
- 24/7 walk-in emergency and critical care
- Surgery suites and advanced diagnostics
- Island-wide referral partnerships with daytime clinics
- Phased expansion to specialty services
How you can help (today)
Donations aren't open yet, but you can:
- Share our story with fellow pet owners
- Join our email list to be notified when fundraising launches
- Reach out if you're a vet, partner, or volunteer
Together, we can make sure no Kauai family has to fly across the ocean to save their pet.
